Day Master calculator — which of the ten are you?
One date of birth in, one Heavenly Stem out — the anchor character of your entire BaZi chart. Computed, not guessed.
↑ this date lands on 丁 — Yin Fire, the candle flame: focused warmth rather than the bonfire. Each stem has its own meaning page.
Five elements, each in a Yang and a Yin form. Find yours above, then read its page:
- It's the chart's anchor — BaZi reads every other character relative to your day stem — the same Fire that feeds one Day Master drains another.
- It's a temperament, not a fortune — each stem is a working style and a way of meeting the world: the tall tree, the candle flame, the sword, the mist.
- Strong or weak is not good or bad — strength just decides what balances you — a weak stem is supported, a strong one is given an outlet.
- It's one character of eight — the full picture needs the other pillars. The full-chart calculator computes all of them.
Want the whole structure, not just the anchor? The BaZi calculator computes your complete Four Pillars chart — hidden stems, element balance, and all.
What exactly is a Day Master?
In BaZi, your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your day of birth — one of ten (five elements, each in a Yang and a Yin form). It's the character the rest of the chart is read against: every other stem and branch counts as support, drain, or pressure relative to it. Think of it as the chart's first-person pronoun.
How can one date give a Day Master?
Days cycle through 60 fixed stem–branch combinations, in an unbroken sequence that's been tracked for centuries. Your date of birth lands on exactly one of them, and its stem is your Day Master. Deterministic — the same date always returns the same stem.
Does my birth time change my Day Master?
Almost never — the Day Master comes from the date, not the hour. The one edge case is a birth close to midnight, where day-boundary conventions differ between schools. If you were born within an hour of midnight, it's worth reading both neighboring stems and seeing which sits truer.
Is the Day Master the same as my zodiac animal?
No — and this is the most common mix-up. The animal most people know is the year branch: broad, shared by everyone born that year. The Day Master is the day stem: far more specific, and in BaZi it, not the animal, is the core of the chart.
